2021 Kid Teach Kid Rising Star Mentorship Program
Welcome to our rising star mentorship program!
This summer, Kid Teach Kid is hosting a program for our elementary-aged students students who are interested in staying academically engaged. We are recruiting dedicated mentors (grade 7-10, age 13+) for our first cohort who are interested in teaching them.
As a mentor, you will receive valuable teaching tips from our nationally-recognized Kid Teach Kid staff, access to many valuable educational resources, exclusive conference invitations, and a one-on-one Q&A session with a Kid Teach Kid staff member of your choice. You will join a tight-knit community of some of the most high-achieving students in the country and earn volunteer hours for a great cause!

Eligibility: Grades (7-10) in the upcoming school year AND be at least 13 years of age.
Because we cannot admit every applicant, we will require you to complete this application form. We will also choose to interview some applicants based on their written application. The application process is selective, and more information on the interview process will be provided if you selected for one in the near future.
The deadline to apply to the mentorship program is Sunday, June 6, 2021, at 11:59 CST.
Final decisions will be released on June 9, 2021. We practice ROLLING ADMISSIONS. We may contact you sometime before decisions are released to set up an interview time. We strongly encourage you to submit your application well before the deadline of June 6, to allow for a wider range of options for potential interview times.
In this application, please do your best and be very thorough. We will be deciding interviewees based on the completeness and quality of the responses given in this application.
What you will be doing as a mentor
As a mentor, you will teach at least one class in a topic of your choosing for at least three weeks, starting sometime in mid-to-late June. Each week, you will teach a one hour-long session over Zoom to our elementary school students. The class that you teach may be on any subject that you like, i.e. oceanography, paleontology, animals, sentences, geometry, etc.
• Prepare your own course syllabus, PowerPoint presentations, and homework for students
• Strong speaking skills
• Be knowledgeable in your subject
• Be patient with young students
